Hot-Air Plastic Welding
In this video we are using a hot air welding technique to weld a polypropylene tank. The welding gun has a heating element inside. We feed the welding rod through the tip of the welding gun where it is heated to melting point along with the substrate material. (Think of a cross between a home-craft glue gun and a caulking gun, only really, really hot and industrial!)
The speed and pressure at which the welding is done is extremely important to create a strong bond. The substrate material and the welding rod fuse together creating a watertight seal. This finished weld is not going to fail.
